A warrant was issued for the 18-year-old nursing assistant who authorities allege beat a 51-year-old resident she was assigned to care for with a coat hanger. There were at least 18 welts on the man, mostly on the chest and arms, according to Mangano and Doran.

A clothes hanger believed to have been used in the beating was found on a bed next to the man, according to a sheriff’s report of the incident. The report included a statement from one nursing home worker who said she called Jones at home after the welts were found on the victim and asked her whether anything had occurred during the night.

Jones replied that the man had been throwing feces at her and she refused to clean him, according to the statement attached to the sheriff’s report. But when the employee asked Jones whether she noticed any marks on the victim while in his room, she said she hadn’t touched him, according to the sheriff’s report.
