Ex-nursing home employee admits he punched resident

Thursday, April 21st, 2005.

Donald L. Francis was employed as a certified nurse’s assistant Feb. 18, 2004, at Maple Ridge Care Centre, 2202 N. Kickapoo St., when he punched the 67-year-old several times in the head. The victim suffered a black eye, according to a state health department report of the incident.

Francis also was suspected of another incident about six weeks prior to the Feb. 18 abuse, but that incident involved a different Maple Ridge resident. That 73-year-old resident also reportedly suffered a facial injury.
