Nursing home sued for man’s death

Wednesday, April 27th, 2005.

Calais stayed at Evangeline Oaks just three days - from Jan. 26, 2004 to Jan. 29, 2004 - according to the suit. During that time, he allegedly fell an unknown number of times, resulting in a fractured skull that eventually led to his death, according to the lawsuit….

According to state inspections, Evangeline Oaks was cited for more deficiencies last year than any other nursing home in the parish. Last October, an employee allegedly raped a 92-year-old resident at the home.
