State Moves To Shut Down Troubled Nursing Home

On April 7, Illinois State Police conducted a sweep of Emerald Park Health Care Center in Evergreen Park which resulted in the arrest of four people with outstanding warrants. Among those arrested were two unregistered sex offenders. “It was the last straw,” State Sen. Ed Maloney said. “Just going beyond, you know, again, safety concern for the residents and for the community as well.”
There are disturbing claims about what went on behind closed doors in a suburban nursing home. Now the state is moving to take over the Emerald Park Health Care Center in Evergreen Park….
An Evergreen Park police car pulls up to the health care center, but it is an all too familiar site at the 249-bed long-term care facility. It is one of several reasons the state is taking emergency action to take it over and shut it down.
