DA announces crackdown against elderly abuse

Slidell, LA - With a growing number of retirees settling down in the district, law enforcement officials want to eradicate a crime trend that has affected 1,600 victims over 60 since November 1997, said Houston Gascon, first assistant district attorney under Reed….
Gascon said elderly abuses run the gamut from conniving the elderly out of thousands of dollars to at least one 2004 case of sexual assault against a 82-year-old alzheimer patient in Mandeville.
