Defendant Won’t Be Re-Tried in Nursing Home Beating Death

Fordyce, AR - Nearly two weeks after an El Dorado jury failed to reach a verdict for a second time in her case, 47-year-old Gayla Smith Wilson has been set free.
Wednesday officials decided that prosecutors can only re-try Smith if new evidence is found within the next year. Wilson was accused of beating 81-year-old Willie Mae Ryan to death in a Fordyce nursing home.
