Director defends River Bluff

Rockford, NC — The director of the Winnebago County-run nursing home said Monday that a former employee’s allegations of neglect, abuse and cover-ups at the facility aren’t fair.

“We do our due diligence here,” said River Bluff Nursing Home Administrator Phyllis Schwebke. “And we’re certainly not attempting to cover up anything. But there are times when we can’t substantiate an allegation. And we can’t terminate employees if we can’t substantiate it.
