Malpractice suit filed naming Fayetteville nursing home
Thursday, August 11th, 2005.
Fayetteville, AK – Negligence and medical malpractice are among claims made in a lawsuit filed Wednesday in the Washington County Circuit Court Clerkâs office related to the treatment of a former resident of Rochier Heights Nursing Home in Fayetteville.
The suit alleges that [James] Casey was admitted on July 31, 2003, and defendants failed to property care for him as represented, promised and required by the law to do. It also claims the defendants knew that they could not provide “even the minimum standard of care” to residents and, as a result, Casey “needlessly suffered.” Specific injuries listed include fractures, bruises, skin tears and verbal abuse.
The suit also claims that the defendants operated and managed the nursing home facility so as to “maximize profits by reducing the staffing levels” needed to provide adequate care to residents.
It also states the defendants were on notice of problems at the facility and the Arkansas Department of Human Services investigated and found deficiencies.
