Sex abuse offender charged in Freeport; The man is accused of fondling three fellow nursing home residents

Prosecutors want probation revoked for a convicted sex offender who reportedly groped three fellow residents at a Freeport nursing home.
The sex offender, identified by police as Herbert Martz, 75, was admitted to the home because the facility believed he was terminally ill. He then got better, said a police official.
A sex offender living in a nursing home is not uncommon in Illinois. State law does not preclude nursing homes from caring for sex offenders. Attorney General Lisa Madigan reported in July that 86 sex offenders live in 51 nursing homes across the state.
The state fined the nursing home $30,000 for failure to prevent the alleged sexual abuse.
