Court rejects some charges against nursing home workers

Escondido, CA – An appellate court has rejected a state prosecutor’s bid to charge 12 low-level Escondido health-care workers with criminal elder abuse by using laws historically applied to nursing homes and those who run them, not to rank-and-file employees.

The dozen workers still face other misdemeanor charges related to allegations that they falsified records and neglected an elderly patient in October 2003 at a nursing home that until last year was known as SunBridge Care & Rehabilitation for Escondido-East.
