Nurse charged with abuse, embezzlement

Battle Creek, MI - A Battle Creek nurse is facing charges of patient abuse and embezzlement at a Calhoun County nursing home.
Investigators for Attorney General Mike Cox arrested 36-year-old Lisa Carol Coney of Battle Creek Monday. She’s accused of failing to check an elderly woman’s blood sugar, leading to the patient’s death.
In addition, Coney faces embezzlement charges for falsely reporting hours worked at the nursing home. The embezzlement charge carries a penalty of up to five years in prison plus fines.
