Panel aims to protect elderly

Edwardsville, IL — Madison County State’s Attorney William A. Mudge said he hopes the quality of nursing home care and treatment of seniors will improve because of an Elder Abuse Committee he formed to help cases of criminal abuse of the elderly work through the court system.

The committee’s first case resulted in the indictments Thursday by a Madison County grand jury of three nurses who worked at Collinsville Care Center; Mudge said in an interview Friday that the center already has improved its procedures.
