Nursing home assistant charged with resident abuse

Gaffney, SC – A certified nursing assistant is charged with abusing a nursing home resident here, police said. Bessie Moore, 47, of Gaffney, was charged Thursday with abusing a vulnerable adult at the Cherokee-County-owned Peachtree Centre, where she had worked since July.
A co-worker reported that Moore verbally mistreated a resident and slightly hit her with an adult undergarment Dec. 27. The resident later told nursing home employees Moore had slapped her across the face, according to a police report.
