Possible nursing home abuse investigated at county’s largest nursing home

Santa Barbara, CA - The district attorney’s office is investigating possible elder abuse at La Cumbre Senior Living Concepts, the county’s largest nursing home.
The facility had its Medicare and Medi-Cal funding revoked because of a variety of state inspection violations. Deputy District Attorney Mary Barron, chief of the elder abuse unit, confirmed Monday that prosecutors are investigating the state’s findings.
“It’s only the beginning of the investigation. We are concerned about it. We will be looking for any evidence of elder abuse or neglect,” Barron told the News-Press, which recently reported on troubles at La Cumbre.
