2 in nursing home case worked as inspectors: Nurses charged with fraud once reported to state on care given to patients at facilities

Smyrna, DE – Two of five nurses charged this week with fraud and abuse at a Smyrna nursing home used to inspect nursing homes for the state, officials said Thursday.

Sandra L. Edwards of Lewes and Mary L. Yarrington of Magnolia worked as compliance nurses or “surveyors,” who visit nursing facilities to verify quality of care and compliance with federal regulations, said Jay Lynch, spokesman for the state Department of Health and Social Services.
