Nursing home attacked for firing

Brockton, MA — A certified nursing aide says she was fired from a Brockton nursing home last month for reporting the alleged rape of a patient.
Maranda Jorge of Brockton says St. Joseph’s Manor fired her on Feb. 13, less than two weeks after reporting the incident to state health officials.
“It’s retaliation, I know it is,” said Jorge, 20.
According to state Department of Public Health records, the alleged rape of an elderly male patient occurred on the overnight shift of Jan. 31-Feb. 1 at the Thatcher Street nursing home.
