Pleasant Care, AG settle lawsuit
Saturday, March 11th, 2006.
Ukiah, CA – California Attorney General Bill Lockyer has reached a $1 million settlement deal in a case against the Pleasant Care Corporation. Pleasant Care is the second largest nursing home chain in California, with 30 facilities in 14 counties, including one in Ukiah.
“All Californians are entitled to know that they are not putting personal life or health at risk when they or an elderly loved one is placed in the care of a nursing facility,” Lockyer said.
The lawsuit stems from numerous allegations of elder abuse and criminally negligent care and the more than 160 citations issued against the company by the California Department of Health Services in the last five years.
