Lakeside shutdown ordered

Frankfort, KY - The state has ordered the 286-bed Lakeside Heights nursing home in Highland Heights to remove all residents and shut down within the next 30 days, according to the Cabinet for Health and Family Services.
Effective Wednesday, the Cabinet is terminating Medicaid funding to the facility at 3510 Alexandria Pike, cabinet spokeswoman Vikki Franklin said.
She did not have details Wednesday of the reasons for the order.
But Pat Dressman, director of human services for Campbell County Fiscal Court, said the state cited the facility for deficiencies last month and ordered it to come up with a plan to correct those deficiencies. She said she suspects the state stepped in because nursing home management was unable to fix the problems.
