Lakeside down to 19 residents

Highland Heights, KY – Nineteen residents remained at Lakeside Heights Nursing Center today, and that number will diminish as those on Medicaid continue to move out.

But interim administrator Al Mollozzi doesn’t expect to see the Highland Heights facility empty completely, as it labors to address a host of problems that have caused the state to move to revoke the home’s license. Residents on Medicaid have until April 27 to find another care facility because the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid will no longer accept bills from Lakeside after that date.

The nursing home lost its Medicare and Medicaid certification after major life-threatening deficiencies were found in a state inspection that concluded on March 6. A month later, state Attorney General Greg Stumbo’s Medicaid Fraud and Abuse Control division seized the home’s records, and last week Benvenuti announced plans to revoke the home’s license May 13.
