Nursing home faces lawsuit: Monterey Pines Skilled Nursing Facility among 26 sites accused of not devoting enough time to patients

Sacramento, CA – A Monterey nursing facility was among 26 named in a class action lawsuit alleging unlawful profits and “institutionalized elder abuse,” according to the Los Angeles-area attorney who filed the suit.
Monterey Pines Skilled Nursing Facility was named in a case filed Thursday in Sacramento Superior Court that alleges the nursing homes knowingly did not provide the minimum levels of care required by the state of California….
According to the suit, Monterey Pines averaged 3.1 nursing hours per patient per day, less than the state-mandated 3.2 hours. The effect is a failure to provide more than 3,000 hours of legally required care in a year, said Garcia.
