Health Dept. slams Eger on patient care: Abuse by 2 patients toward other residents not reported by staff

Staten Island, NY - The state Health Department has blasted Eger Health Care and Rehabilitation Center for providing substandard care after finding that two residents with Alzheimer’s disease engaged in sexually inappropriate and abusive behavior toward other residents over the past two years while nursing staff kept mum.
On June 6, the Health Department classified the Egbertville facility as in “immediate jeopardy,” meaning its deficiencies “have caused or are likely to cause serious harm, injury, impairment, or death if not immediately rectified.”
