Monterey facility with high rate of deficiencies being sued

Monterey, CA – Repeated health and safety deficiencies at a Monterey County nursing home have resulted in two lawsuits and numerous warnings and sanctions from government inspectors.
Government records also show that eight of Monterey County’s 13 Medicare-certified nursing homes had more “health deficiencies” than the state average.
That’s not good news for 2,500 seniors living in nursing homes and assisted living facilities in Monterey County.
Monterey Pines Skilled Nursing Facility, reported 47 federal deficiencies, the highest in the county and one of the highest in the state. The number of deficiencies in California nursing homes ranges from zero to 63, according to Medicare records, with 11 being the state average.
