Nassau County DA Tackles Nursing Home Abuse, Neglect

Long Island, NY - Nassau County District Attorney Kathleen Rice has announced the initiation of a program that will provide extensive in-service training to the 35 skilled-nursing facilities in Nassau County….
“Part of my job as DA is to provide communities with information and educational programs that can prevent crime and ensure that the most vulnerable in our communities are not exploited,” Ms. Rice said. “Rather than wait for a crime to occur, my office is taking pro-active, preventative measures with a goal of decreasing instances of abuse, neglect and mistreatment of the county’s elderly.”
The program is designed to supplement existing programs run by the County and by private facilities.
