Personal care homeowners accused of abuse

Jackson, MS - Officials paint a dismal picture of the life of residents housed at the Safehaven Personal Care Home: piles of dirty laundry, inadequate supplies of food and medication, and routine physical abuse.
Investigators with state Attorney General Jim Hood’s office said most of the 24 residents in the Jackson facility were mentally ill and were often denied access to their Social Security checks and other income.
“It’s one of the most heinous situations we’ve run into,” Hood said Friday.
