Federal funds to be cut off for nursing home: Poor Care of Patients is Alleged

Thursday, September 14th, 2006.

Lexington, KY - The federal government is cutting off funding to Friendship Healthcare, a Lexington nursing home, because of allegations of poor patient care.

Facilities such as Friendship, which rely heavily on funding from Medicare and Medicaid, frequently shut down in such situations.

The home’s residents already are being moved to other facilities. The home at 1537 North Limestone had 57 residents Monday morning; that number had shrunk to 50 by yesterday evening.
