Elderly abuse case ‘one of the worst,’ says judge

Rustburg, VA - On Friday, Circuit Judge Samuel Johnston presided over what he called one of the worst cases of elderly abuse he’s seen in 30 years. Afterward he left the courtroom, went back to his chambers and threw up.
It was the pictures of an emaciated Capitola West, an 84-year-old Campbell County woman who died last year that got to him, Johnston said.
