Aide charged with switching pain medication at nursing home

Wilkes-Barre, PA – A 29-year-old nurse’s aide stole high-powered prescription painkillers from Alzheimer’s patients, and tried to cover up the thefts by replacing pill bottles with Tylenol, prosecutors charged Friday.

Investigators say Leniea Burgina, of Barney Street, Wilkes-Barre, admitted stealing Vicodin from patients to support her addiction to the medication. She said her thefts occurred for about a year while employed at the Garden Estates Personal Care Home in Larksville, according to police.
