DOH Fines Westmount Health Facility For Quality Of Care
Saturday, May 26th, 2007.
Queensbury, NY – The state Department of Health has fined the Westmount Health Facility, a 80-bed nursing home operated by Warren County, $1,000 for the quality of care and number of accidents at the facility.
Despite the enforcement action, the health department rated it in compliance with no deficiencies when it was reinspected in January even though three health deficiencies were found. The state average is five.
The nursing home was found to have “no deficiencies” despite a finding that the facility failed to keep the rate of medication errors (wrong drug, wrong dose, wrong time) to less than 5% and it failed to ensure that all assessments are accurate, coordinated by a RN, done by the right professional and are signed by the person completing them and failed to give the proper treatment to prevent and care for bed sores.
