Families in chaos after home is closed

Palmetto, FL - An elderly man with a cane hobbled up to the Palmetto Guest Home on Tuesday, but the door to the nursing home was locked and no one was inside.

The man was trying to get his wife’s walker, left behind when she and 71 other residents were forced to move out of the assisted living facility Monday after the state shut it down.

The home was closed and its owner arrested after a state investigation alleged that an 85-year-old resident had been neglected. The state says the man had a cancerous tumor on his cheek that went untreated.
