Abuse case goes to trial; Deal falls through as former Moreau nurse changes day’s events

Fort Edward, NY – A plea deal in the case of a Moreau man accused of abusing a nursing home patient fell through Friday when the defendant’s version of events did not equal criminal conduct in the eyes of a judge and prosecutor.

Andrew B. Thompson, who faces felony charges of reckless endangerment and unlawful imprisonment for allegedly holding a pillow over the face of an 85-year-old Alzheimer’s disease patient and hitting the man, had agreed to a plea deal that would result in his spending 6 months in Washington County Jail and 5 years on probation.
