Two area nursing homes fined; Lewis Memorial, Barton Stone contest rulings by Public Health

Springfield, IL - The state has fined a Springfield nursing home $20,000 in connection with a diabetic patient receiving an accidental overdose of insulin that put his blood sugar at dangerously low levels.
The Lewis Memorial Christian Village patient, whose identity wasn’t disclosed, was hospitalized in intensive care for two days as a result of the mistake, according to a report about the February incident from the Illinois Department of Public Health.
