Nursing Home Aide Guilty Of Patient Abuse

Fort Edward, NY – The nursing home aide charged with placing a pillow over the face of an 85-year-old Alzheimer’s patient and then punching it has pleaded guilty in a deal which will keep him out of state prison.

Andrew Thompson, 48, of Fort Edward, was arrested last November following an incident at the Pleasant Valley Nursing Home in Argyle, a facility operated by Washington County. He pleaded guilty to first degree reckless endangerment Thursday as his trial was about to begin in Washington County Court. In exchange for his guilty plea, he will be sentenced to six months in Washington County Jail followed by five years of probation.
