Former nursing home aide sent to prison for stealing from patient

Buffalo, NY – A 22-year-old former nurse’s aide at a nursing home outside Buffalo has been ordered to spend the next 16 months to four years in prison for stealing $8,000 from a 97-year-old patient.
Rebecca Sopko, of Buffalo, pleaded guilty in May to fourth-degree grand larceny and second-degree attempted forgery for stealing $8,000 from a 97-year-old woman at The Waters of Orchard Park nursing home. She was fired from her job.
