Man at center of abuse investigation dies

Deltona, FL – An elderly nursing home patient found with maggots in his eyes never recovered after being taken to a hospital and died two weeks ago, his daughter said Tuesday.
After undergoing surgery to insert a feeding tube into his stomach and a breathing tube into his trachea, Anthony Digiannurio of Deltona spent 28 days in the intensive care unit at Florida Hospital DeLand, said Laura Digiannurio. He was transferred to Kindred Hospital in Green Cove Springs on Dec. 7, where he died on Jan. 12, she said.
