Portage County nursing home sued for sexual abuse

Ravenna, OH – A woman who was allegedly sexually abused at the Portage County nursing home last year and her son are suing the home, county and the man charged with molesting her.

The woman and her son are asking for $10 million in punitive damages and more in compensatory damages, according to the suit filed Jan. 14 in county Common Pleas Court. The suit names The Woodlands at Robinson, county and Randolph Township resident Ben W. Detweiler as defendants.

Detweiler, 81, has been charged with rape and two counts of gross sexual imposition.
