Nursing assistant pleads innocent to narcotics charge

Barre, VT – A licensed nursing assistant from Barre faces three years in prison and a $6,000 fine if convicted for allegedly removing narcotic painkiller patches from patients at the Rowan Court Nursing Home in Barre, said Attorney General William Sorrell today.

Amber Maloney, 31, is accused of removing duragesic Fentanyl patches from multiple patients to whom she provided care at the facility. Her actions, said Sorrell, deprived the residents of a painkiller prescribed by their physicians and may have caused unnecessary suffering.
