Nurse Accused of Abuse Pleads Not Guilty

Sandusky, OH - A former nurse accused of abusing patients at a northern Ohio nursing home has pleaded not guilty to new charges.

John Riems was charged with rape, sexual battery and patient abuse.

Riems, 49, entered the plea when he was arraigned Wednesday, participating in court session via closed circuit television while he remained at the Erie County jail.

He had been indicted earlier this week on charges he sexually abused a 55-year-old man and another man in his 80s. He was fired from his job at Concord Care and Rehabilitation Center in Sandusky, a city of 26,000 west of Cleveland, after his arrest last month.
