Troubled nursing home closes doors: Last residents move out Friday despite planned May 19 close
Saturday, February 23rd, 2008.
East Peoria, IL - A year of troubles at a local nursing home, which included two residents’ deaths, culminated Friday when East Peoria Gardens closed its doors.
“The last two residents moved today,” said Meyer Magence, the Skokie-based attorney for the facility’s Chicago-based owners. The business is now closed, he said.
That action came four days after a local television station reported the nursing home was expected to close Friday, a rumor Magence twice denied to the Journal Star.
