AARP opposes proposed nursing home legislation

Cleveland, TN - AARP announced earlier this week its opposition to nursing home liability legislation co-sponsored by a local state Rep. Eric Watson.

The nationwide organization, founded on the premise of improving lives of retirees, follows the lead of the Tennessee Citizen Action Organization, a consumer watchdog organization.

AARP Advocacy Director Patrick Willard said in a letter to the House and Senate Judiciary Committee members H.B. 4053 would place nursing home residents at risk by undermining legal remedies when they are harmed or abused.
