3 area nursing homes cited by state

Utica, NY - Three area nursing homes were cited for deficiencies of care in recent months by the state Department of Health.
According to a recent report from the Long Term Care Community Coalition, the three local nursing home facilities failed to pass all aspects of a standard health inspection:
- Katherine Luther Nursing Home, in Clinton, was fined $2,000 for deficiencies in quality of care and resident rights.
- Betsy Ross Rehabilitation, in Rome, was fined $13,000 for deficiencies in administration and quality of care.
- Van Allen Nursing Home, in Little Falls, is currently being denied funds for any new Medicare or Medicaid residents until corrections for previous deficiencies are corrected, records show.
