Vets home care criticized before state lawmakers

Dover, DE - The Delaware Veterans Home near Milford is not providing quality care to its residents, a joint legislative committee was told today.

“The residents are not getting good care because they are falling through the cracks,” said Diane Draper McGuire, a nursing-home administrator who, after a personal investigation, attributed problems in large part to “astronomical turnover” among the home’s employees.

Several members of the Senate and House veterans affairs committees expressed disappointment at a current resident count of 57 veterans at the 150-bed facility.
