State increases scrutiny of personal-care home

Erie, PA - State regulators are closely monitoring an Erie personal-care home after its now-fired executive director was charged with obtaining painkillers by writing phony prescriptions for residents a year ago.
The defendant, Marilyn Y. DeDionisio, ran Sunrise Assisted Living. She sometimes picked up the drugs at local pharmacies, state drug agents said in arrest records. They said DeDionisio told them she had a substance abuse problem, and that the drugs were “a perk for me.”
