Long-term care deserves boost in Pennsylvania

Towanda, PA - Pennsylvania’s demographics make quality nursing home care a much higher priority than in most other states. More than 2 million Pennsylvanians are older than 65, a figure projected to grow so that, by 2020, one in every four state residents will be in that category….
Recently state lawmakers from this region led an effort to pass a package of new laws governing long-term care in certain settings, and creating severe penalties for the abuse of patients. They acted in response to the shocking death of Alzheimer’s patient Peggy Rogers at a local personal care home that since has closed.
