Tennessee Murfreesboro, TN - After allegations of physical and verbal abuse and neglect, veterans’ nursing home administrators and the families of veterans defended a Murfreesboro home Wednesday that has been the target of the charges. Recently, the Tennessee State Veterans Home in Murfreesboro came under attack from three families for allegations of abuse. One of those allegations was made by the family of David Lawson, a veteran who had a bed sore that became infected with maggots. Wednesday, a legislative oversight committee allowed responses to the charges. "There’s just no excuse for a person having maggots," said Sen. Thelma Harper (D-Nashville), a member of the Veterans Affairs Oversight Committee. "That's something I never want to see again."
